As the heart pumps blood through arteries, circulating it through the veins before it is returned to the heart, minuscule valves open within the blood vessels to allow the blood to flow through. When functioning properly, these valves then close to ensure the blood continues along its natural course.
Our feet, legs and ankles bear the brunt of our body weight as well as the majority of the pressure exerted during normal activity. Over time, this pressure can force the walls of the blood vessels to weaken, causing them to become twisted and enlarged; in addition, the valves within lose elasticity and fail to close adequately, allowing back-flow of blood to pool in the veins.
When these issues take place, the veins often bulge outward, exhibiting themselves near the surface of the skin and creating a condition know as varicose veins. As veins become varicose, they can generate itching and burning sensations as well as pain, tenderness, swelling and fatigue.
Through the Venolase Treatment Center, a number of treatments are available to combat the discomfort and embarrassment associated with varicose veins. One such treatment option is sclerotherapy. In this procedure, a small amount of fluid is injected into the affected veins. This fluid hardens the vein, effectively eliminating it.
With an ambulatory phlebectomy, varicose veins are removed through a series of tiny incisions. This procedure requires no stitches, leaves no scarring and the patients needs very little, if any, recovery time. Endovenous Laser Therapy is a treatment involving a thin laser fiber. This fiber is maneuvered into the affected vein. Laser energy is then conducted through the fiber, closing the vein.
Venous edema and venous insufficiency are precursors to varicose veins. Treatments for these conditions include massage, specialized exercises and wrapping. Compression stockings are also effective remedies.
All the aforementioned treatments available at the Venolase Treatment Center are completely safe and provide noticeable results. Our bodies are designed to compensate for the loss of minor blood vessels by directing blood flow to healthy vessels; therefore, the removal of varicose veins will not disrupt normal blood flow. Venolase Treatments greatly reduce the appearance of varicose veins and offer patients relief from the symptoms of this condition.
