What is Screen Printing?
In order to print on clothing, a mesh stencil or “screen” is used. The screen is placed against the clothing and a blade mechanism literally forces the ink into the screen with one stroke and with the next stroke the ink is applied to the fabric. This creates one color of the design. A separate printing is done for each additional color. This printing method is sometimes referred to as silkscreen although today’s methods use materials like stainless steel or polyester to make screen print shirts and apparel.
What is Digital Printing?
Digital print is a newer technology which uses computers. Images are printed directly on garments in a similar way to your computer printer. You can receive great detail with this method but it is limited in what you can do. For example, digital printing is not cost effective and best done with small orders. Plus you cannot get vibrant colors like the screen printing method produces.

Screen printing has been around for over a century and is still the standard for apparel printing today. Here are some reasons to choose this method:
White – if you need the color “white” printed on darker clothing, screen printing is by far the preferred method.
Cost – it is cheaper to screen print items because the ink is less expensive and the process can easily be setup to handle large orders.
Variety of materials – digital printing works best on certain fabrics but screen printing can be used on a variety of clothing items.
