Include Washing Instructions

There are very simple instructions that can help your t-shirt prints last. Unfortunately, most of the individuals that will be receiving your shirts won’t know, or even think to look into the proper care of these custom shirts. Especially important if you’re using the transfers for business purposes, you can simply include a sheet that explains how to wash the shirt. Since the instructions are so simple and easy, most will be able to remember.

In order to protect the iron on transfer, you’ll want to have the t-shirt turned inside out. This will prevent other materials from rubbing against it while it’s washing. Washing in cold water will help to reduce fading of the colors on the shirt. Bleach should also be avoided as it will cause the color to deteriorate.

Another way to prevent the transfer from peeling off is to wash on the gentle cycle. The more friction there is on the transfer, the more likely it is to come off. The gentle cycle will reduce motion, and thus remove most of the friction that happens in the wash.

As for drying, it’s important that the shirt be removed as quickly as possible. Often times, garments left in the dryer will be crumpled up. This can cause cracking in the iron on transfer.
