Antique John Deere Tractor Parts: OEM, Rebuilt Or Reproduction

by | Jul 4, 2024 | Tractor Equipment Supplier

If you have an antique John Deere tractor, parts will require replacing. This results in you needing to decide on where to source the malfunctioning components. This is not difficult. What may be an issue is what type of part you should opt for: OEM, rebuilt or reproduction?

OEM

A part considered OEM or original equipment manufacturer is a part manufactured by the company that originally produced the component. It is only sold through the manufacturer’s distribution system. Only they are authorized to sell OEM parts.

Many tractor owners prefer this type to other options. They know the component will be an identical match to the one requiring replacement. Depending upon the age and model of the antique John Deere Tractor, parts of this designation may not be so easy to obtain.

Rebuilt

This refers to a part that has been disassembled and reconstructed. It contains many of the original components. However, certain materials or items may be replaced with those that are compatible. These can be new or aftermarket parts. A rebuilt component may be preferable to a reproduction.

Reproduction

In several cases, no new components are no longer available. Sometimes, there are insufficient pieces left over to reconstruct the old part. In such cases, or for convenience, the preference may be for a reproduction.

Antique John Deere Tractor parts of this nature are identical to the original components. The parts are designed and constructed to mimic them. However, it may not satisfy those who collect antique or vintage tractors.
