An anti aging skincare products can make the difference in the way your skin ages. It does not have to be complex, in fact it’s really very simple. The skin needs proper nourishment, specifically with topical application of vitamins A and C, moisture, protection, and skin exfoliation.
Vitamin C comes in many forms. When your goal is to use the vitamin C as a wrinkle treatment, to reduce lines and wrinkles and provide skin lightening, you should choose the ascorbic acid form with a minimum concentration of 10%, with 20% being ideal. Vitamin C serums should be applied daily, in the morning and then followed by a vitamin C-based moisturizer and chemical-free sunscreen. The ideal choice for daily use is a chemical-free and mineral sunscreen with and SPF30 or higher.
The nighttime routine should include a retinol-based product. (Retinol is a form of vitamin A). Retinols provide skin exfoliation and skin renewal. When used over time, they can reduce lines and wrinkles. Products containing retinols should not be used during the day. If they are, it is imperative that a chemical-free, mineral sunscreen be applied over it.
On a weekly basis, a deeper exfoliation should be done using an enzymatic vs. granular exfoliator. Many products contain enzymes that break down the protein in the dead skin cells, revealing healthy, renewed skin. Skin renewal is a critical step in an anti-aging routine, but should not be over-used. Once per week application of an enzymatic exfoliator is sufficient.
The goal of anti-aging skincare is to nourish the skin with antioxidants and vitamins the skin needs to build new healthy skin, while also constantly encouraging skin turnover through gentle skin exfoliation products. Maintaining moisture with soothing skincare products, such as vitamin C based moisturizers and protecting the skin from solar and environmental pollutants with a mineral sunscreen are the finishing touches to a rejuvenating skincare program aimed to keep your skin looking young and vibrant!
