How You Can Be ADA Compliant for Visiting Customers With Physical Limits

The most difficult part of operating any outdoor entertainment venue or an outdoor recreation venue is being ADA compliant. The Americans with Disabilities Act requires that everyone who operates any sort of business provide bathroom stalls that are very wide and toilets that are very high off the ground. If you operate any source of recreation or entertainment outdoors, it gets a bit trickier to be compliant.

An ADA Restroom Trailer

An ADA restroom trailer is easily rentable, and you can rent one (or more) short-term or long-term. If your business is an outdoor venue that is open all year long, then you should definitely consider renting this restroom trailer indefinitely so that your physically challenged guests have a place to relieve themselves.

What’s Different About an ADA Restroom Trailer vs. Standard Outdoor Bathroom

Most “porta-potties” are not that wide. While it may be possible to transition someone from a wheelchair to a toilet in a standard portable restroom, it takes a lot of effort. There isn’t enough room for two or three people in a standard portable toilet.

The ADA version is twice as wide and has a very low threshold so that a wheelchair can wheel right into the restroom and close the door. People helping the person in the wheelchair have room to move too, which is key in helping someone stand, pivot, and sit on a toilet seat. Have at least two of these toilets in the same location as the rest of your portable bathrooms.
